PASIR PUTEH: Disappointed with the change in the principles of PAS, 20 members including a former headman yesterday quit the party to join Umno.
Zakaria Mat Husin, 53, a former headman of Mukim Gong Nangka said the Malays have no other choice but to unite under Umno for the sake of the race and religion.
“PAS has lost faith in its struggle and principles which keep changing in the interest of cronies rather than religion,” he told reporters when met at Kampung Alor Pasir here yesterday.
Zakaria said he will try to attract about 1,400 PAS voters in Gong Nangka to support the Umno candidate contesting Semerak seat in the general election.
