Reasons identified for tainted water in Sarawak

KUCHING: Urbanisation, gold mining, logging activities, large scale agriculutre and poor sanitation has been identified as among the sources for low water quality of several rivers and lakes in Sarawak.

This was revealed by Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Director of Centre for Water Research Professor Dr Lau Seng in his second inaugural lecture entitled “Water in the environment: Tainted Life Source Hungers for Cures” at UNIMAS yesterday.
