Online Police Reporting System in November

GENTING HIGHLANDS: The online Police Reporting System is to be introduced in November to make traffic reporting easier still.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar said the PRS is user friendly because accident reports can be made at any police station in  the country.

“The station which receives the report can conduct initial investigations and submit online all information to the station nearest the accident location,” he told reporters yesterday after closing the Traffic Investigation Application Workshop here.

Khalid said the present Computerised Accident Reporting System would only be used at district police stations.

Khalid said the PRS was introduced after various complaints about the current system, some relating to the database.

The online summons payment system would also be improved to keep up with the advancement of technology, he said.

In another development, Khalid said police had requested Suhardi Mat Isa to come forward to help their investigations.

Suhardi Mat Isa was said to have impersonated Baharudin Ahmad who died of a heart attack during the July 9 illegal rally.

“It is believed he has gone into hiding.  I advise him to come forward and assist us. We want to know why he did it and who put him up to it,” said Khalid.

It was reported that images of Suhardi, who attended the rally, had been  manipulated by certain quarters to make him look like Baharudin.

Earlier screening had established it was Suhardi and not Baharuddin who was seen in the video. — Bernama
