Mara Expo a gold mine for small traders

LIMBANG: Mara Expo, which has been running since July 28, is deemed to be a pot of gold for participating small traders.

The expo also attracts visitors from neighbouring country Brunei Darussalam, giving traders the extra impetus in sales.

Apart from the variety of food and beverages, the expo also sells
various products catered to all ages of visitors.

Limbang MP Hasbi Habibollah described the Mara Up Town Expo as the best approach to revive and liven up the Limbang district as a shopping destination that provides a good variety of merchandises.

The expo also acts as a venue for small traders to generate extra income on top of their normal business days.

“The expo is the best platform for the traders to earn extra while exposing their products to the market,” he told.

More over, Hasbi said that the government always gives full support for such an effort involving retailing programmes that will generate and boost sales, especially that of Bumiputera traders.

The expo has attracted more than 500 local, Lawas and Bruneian visitors, where a variety of products are sold at reasonable prices.

One of the traders, Siti Khatijah Brahim in her 20’s, is grateful and appreciates the government’s effort, especially Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) that looks after Bumiputera traders’ welfare.

“On a normal business day, the response is slow.

“With the expo, my sales has been given a big boost, thus helping my family in upcoming Hari Raya preparation,” she said.

Hasbi hopes Mara will continue with activities like the expo to ensure business in Limbang district remain active providing traders here the means to make a decent living.
