Miri road crash kills one, injures two others


MIRI: A youth was killed while another two sustained bodily injuries when the car they were in skidded and rammed into a lamp post at Miri-Pujut road at about 4am yesterday.

The deceased, who was sitting at the back of the ill-fated vehicle, was flung out from the Proton Wira due to the impact.

The victim, identified as Joshua Khiew Hua Sing, 18, from Lutong, died on the spot due to head and bodily injuries.

The deceased’s body has been sent to Miri Hospital for a post-mortem.

According to the Miri traffic police, the driver was said to have lost controlled of the vehicle prior to the accident.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident near the Miri-Pujut overhead bridge, a vehicle hit a 60-year-old man who was attempting to cross the road yesterday morning.

In the 11.30am incident, the victim decided to forgo the nearby overhead bridge when crossing the road.

He was later rushed to the Miri Hospital.
