KUCHING: New Kuching Resident Abdul Rahman Sebli Senusi will focus on development and infrastructure for the outskirts of Kuching.

Abdul Rahman, who was met during the handover of duty from former Resident Liu Jiu Ming yesterday, said he would soon visit the outskirts of Kuching such as Lundu, Bau, Santubong and Sematan to find out their need for development and infrastructure.

“The approach is to ensure balanced development between urban and the city’s outskirts,” said Rahman.

“I will also pursue what has been planned by the former Resident to ensure continuity of all the Resident Office’s programme,” he added.

He said among his other tasks was to address squatter and social problems in the city, and ensure the city was liveable.

He would arrange a meeting with Kuching City North Commission (DBKU), Kuching City South Council (MBKS) and Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to know the details of projects in the pipeline for them.

Rahman who previously worked at the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage was appointed Sri Aman Deputy Resident in 2004 and served for four years. He returned to the Tourism and Heritage Ministry in 2008 and was appointed Sri Aman Resident in December last year.
