Giant retail group opens first hypermarket in Sarawak

SIBU: Giant, the low price retail chain leader in the country, has its first hypermarket in the state, at Ling Kai Cheng road here.

It will be officially open for business from tomorrow.

Norine Erica Majaman, the marketing manager of GCH Retail(Malaysia)Sdn Bhd which owns the chain said, Giant area manager for Sarawak, Andrew Smith, would officiate the official opening.

She was speaking to reporters after the hypermarket’s soft opening today.

Norine said Giant would open two more hypermarkets in the state soon.

“On Aug 25, our Tabuan Jaya hypermarket will be declared open and this will be followed by another in Kota Padawan. Both are in Kuching,” she said.

She also said besides these hypermarkets, Giant had a supermarket here and in Miri.

The Sibu hypermarket is the 121st store for Giant which pioneered modern supermarket shopping in the country. – Bernama
