KUCHING: A delegation from the management committee of Kuching Chung Hua Primary Schools here led by the chairman Dr Chou Chii Ming met Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh the Minister of Finance at his office yesterday to appeal for help from the state government for the development of their schools.

Among the requests they made was for the minister to help them raise RM1.5 million for the extension of Kuching Chung Hua Primary School No.1 at Tabuan Road here, which is under construction.

The delegation also brought up the need for Kuching Chung Hua Primary School No.2 to build more classrooms to run morning and afternoon sessions in 2015 when the Primary 1 student registration is expected to reach 500.

Currently the school can only accommodate 225 in five classes.

The delegation also sought Wong’s help in the renewal of the Kuching Chung Hua Primary School No.3 land which is on sub-lease from Kuching City South Council (MBKS). The sub-lease will expire on Dec 30, 2018.

The management committee is also seeking approval from the Land and Survey Department for the relocation of SJK Chung Hua Bako
which closed down in January last year due to lack of new intake of Primary 1 students inBandar Samariang.

Chou revealed that expansion blueprints of Kuching Chung Hua Primary School No.2 and new school building for SJK Chung Hua Bako at Bandar Samariang were ready for submission and requested Wong to help obtain federal government grant for the construction of these two projects.

Wong agreed to look into all the requests and do his best to help the Chinese medium schools.
