Records broken in youth swimming worlds

LIMA: Swimmers from Japan and the United States broke three championship records at the world youth swimming championships here on Tuesday, Xinhua reports.

In the girls’ 400 IM prelim, Japanese Miyu Otzuka clocked 4:43.29 minutes, bettering Dagny Knutson’s 2008 record of 4:43.49.

In the boys’ 100 metres breaststroke competition, Japanese Akihiro Yamaguchi timed 1:02:00 to beat Briton Daniel Sliwinski’s mark by 19 hundredths.

The U.S. 4×200 freestyle team clocked 8:03.83 to shatter their own record of 08:04.49.
