Fatimah gives grant to renovate surau village surau

DALAT: Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Datin Fatimah Abdullah on Thursday presented a minor rural project grant of RM6,000 for the renovation and upgrading of Surau Darul Islah in Kampung Bakong.

The grant was received by chairman of the surau management committee Mohd Senusi Ibrahim during the breaking of fast.

The ceremony was also attended by SAO Zarni Rapaie @ Rapiee (representing Dalat District Officer), Sarawak Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JAIS) Mukah officer Shamsudin Basir, Jasa Dalat field officer Sait Seman, Penghulu Kedri Mun who is also imam of Surau Darul Islah and head of Welfare Bureau, Perkim Dalat/Oya branch, Sainah Seman.

Fatimah also presented zakat (tithes) to 40 individuals comprising single monthers, senior citizens and orphans from Kampung Bakong and Kampung Terus and ‘duit raya’ from Perkim Dalat/Oya branch to 50 orphans from Kampung Bakong and Kampung Terus.

The Dalat assemblywoman called on the villagers to organise more religious activities during the month of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri to enhance spirituality and ‘silaturahim’ of the ummah.

Fatimah later joined other Muslim to perform maghrib, isyak and terawih prayers at the surau.
