‘Work together to enjoy more devt’

MARUDI (Ulu Teru Area): The various communities, be they Iban, Orang Ulu or any ethnic group in the district were told to work together for the benefit and development of villages and longhouses by pulling their support totally behind the Barisan Nasional government.

Dato Jacob Dungau Sagan, who is Baram Member of Parliament, made the call when he spoke at the opening ceremony of the Meet the People Session at Rumah Tr Abok Jabu at Kampung Mulong, Ulu Teru Tinjar organised by Special Affairs Department (Jasa) Baram District and Kemas Marudi District yesterday morning.

He added the district is under the government transformation scheme. This rapid development includes the Lapok-Beluru Road that cost about RM102 million and the Miri-Marudi Road construction will start on Sept 15.

According to Jacob, the building of the Baram Dam would speed up development for the people of Baram, as there will be plenty of spin-offs in business opportunities.

At the function, Jacob announced the government MRP grant of RM30,000 for PIBG SK Pengarah Entrie to upgrade the football field , RM30,000 for JKKK Rumah Abok Jabu, RM10,000 for Rumah Kalong Longhouse to build a hall, and RM42,000 for all the women from
14 longhouses, with each longhouse receiving RM3,000.

Water tanks were also given out to Rumah Henry Gomes (58), Rumah Empeni (25), Tanjong Mawang (22), Tr Niga and Tr Ambon also received the 1Malaysia water tank.

Present at the function were Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau Jok, Datin Winnie Jolly Sagan, Pegawai Jasa, David Belulok, SAO Rose Edward Tarang, TR Abok Jabu, Penghulu Nyadang Rengkang and councillor Kalang Amie.
