22-year-old thief sentenced to a week jail

MIRI: The Magistrate Court here on Thursday sentenced a man to seven days imprisonment and a fine of RM700 or 14 days in jail for attempting to steal various used cars’ spare parts.

Magistrate Nasrul Hadi Abdul Ghani meted out the sentence after considering a few factors including a not guilty plea and appeal, case facts, seriousness of the offence and public interest.

Cosmas Panting Micheal Biggol Agan, 22, of Phase 5 Desa Senadin was charged under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code which was read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

According to the case facts, the accused had attempted to steal various used cars’ spare parts worth RM2,000 that were stored in a warehouse owned by Wong Ging Ling.

He is charged committing the offence with two others acquaintance who were still at large at about 4am on August 21 at Carful Auto Parts Sdn Bhd at Lot 1819 Jalan Prunus, Piasau Utara Industrial Area.

Inspector Mizlan Abdul Ghani was the prosecuting officer.
