6.8M quake rattles central Peru

LIMA: A 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook buildings in Peru’s capital city, Lima, on Wednesday, witnesses and the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. The USGS said the epicentre of the quake was 82.07 km north of Pucallpa, in the Peruvian Amazon forest close to the Brazilian border.

The USGS said the quake, initially upgraded to a magnitude 6.9, was 145.2 km deep.
