KUCHING: The ‘10th Sarawak Intercultural Mooncake Festival 2011’ is going to be held at Carpenter Street from Sept 9 till Sept 12 from 7pm to 11pm daily.
This year’s theme is ‘Participate, Understanding and Celebrate together’. The co-organising chairperson Datuk Lily Yong said in a press statement yesterday that the festival this year would only take place for four days.
She explained that it was mainly to avoid possible traffic jam in the capital city as there would be a series of activities for National day celebration and Sarawak Regatta at Kuching Waterfront from Sept 15 to 18.
“The ‘10th Sarawak Intercultural Mooncake Festival 2011’ is slightly different compared to the previous years because performers from Xinjiang, China are not going to participate this time. However, the festival will still be filled with local cultural performances and local foods,” Yong, the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Kuching branch chairwoman said.
About 80 stalls would be opened for members of the public to apply, she said, adding that some had been reserved for charitable organisations.
The deadline to apply for the festival stall is today. Those who had been selected by the committee must pay their application fees before Aug 29 to Sim at No. 39-41 or Ko at No. 28, Carpenter Street. Sim can be contacted at 082-242940 and Ko at 082-236803.
Water and electric supply would be provided by the organiser but the stall owner needs to prepare their own table and chairs. Stall operators are advised to decorate their stall to match the theme of this year.
