HYPERACTIVE LOT: The HyperDrive band from the Philippines.
MIRI: QQ Terminal Karaoke and Lounge located at Centre Point Commercial Centre Phase 2 here will showcase Filipino band ‘HyperDrive’, performing live from Sept 1.
Composed of eight members with four energetic vocalists from Cebu City in the Philippines, HyperDrive is a band not to be missed.
Not forgetting the four musicians in the band from Manila with their wide repertoire, they are sure to make the night unforgettable and enjoyable.
Gypsy Valle (vocalist) started as an alternative singer while in high school, and got famous in his hometown Cebu because of his alternative compositions. The good-looking hunk joined a variety band called the Extremes and has three years’ experience abroad.
Kalima P Sampulna or Cindy (vocalist) started singing at a young age. At age 16 she joined her first band, went abroad and started in Malaysia as a vocalist for Shadon band for four years. She continued her singing career in Superstar Virgo Star Cruises for two years. The bubbliest person in the pack has the most powerful voice.
Lymhar Benihagan or Maya (vocalist) has performed around Asia specifically Bangladesh at Radisson Hotel, PJ Hilton, Hyatt Kuantan and famous clubs around Kuala Lumpur. This lass exudes energy in every performance. Has an angelic voice and breathtaking dance moves.
Claudine C Empalmado (vocalist) started singing at a tender age. With her family’s support, she was encouraged to join singing competitions and won titles. She is a dancer and singer. Performed in the Sheraton Perdana Langkawi a few years back and hotels and clubs around Malaysia.
Tough-looking Ernesto ‘Jon’ C Ahorro Jr (lead guitarist) serenades with his guitar expertise. A former guitarist of Milkshake Band, Fat Babes Band and 22nd St Band has experience from different gigs, concerts and events. The skillful guitar player has played for bars around the metro Manila like Padis Point, Music Warehouse, Watering Hole, Arkadia and Mugen.
Jasper Nacua (bassist) started as a bassist for a rock Christian band named ‘Talitakoum’. He became a major hit in metro Manila then joined the acoustic group ‘J’ strip’ for regular gigs at bars in Malate and Subic. He became part of the ‘Hi-Fidelity Band’ which played at Pier 1, Ratsky, Watering Hole and in events such as weddings and debuts.
Merlin M Hernandez (drummer) or ‘Theng’ is the man behind the beat of the band. Theng is the most silent person in the band but as soon as he holds the drum sticks, the beat keeps on going. He has played his way from north of Manila to the bars of south Manila: Music Warehouse Meycauyan, Dagupan, Baliwag, Padis Point Baguio, Araneta, Jupiter, Cuba Libre Alabang, Las Pinas, Bedrock, Mugen and 22nd Street Punchline.
Rey Virtudazo is a well-respected keyboardist of a famous band in Philippines called IAXE. Rey has gained experience from travelling around the world from Japan, UAE and Hong Kong where he performed in front of thousands. Be prepared to be mesmerised once he touches the keyboards.
