KOTA KINABALU: Port View Euro Bakery is back with 35 mooncake flavours, including four new tastes, for the Mid-Autumn Festival this year.
In addition, customers can buy the mooncakes with 20 per cent discount in conjunction with the opening of Port View Euro Bakery outlet on Gaya Street here.
Its managing director, Foo Hoe Weng, said this was the second year that Port View Euro Bakery produced mooncakes.
Foo revealed that the bakery also made big mooncakes from one kilogramme, two kilogrammes, five kilogrammes, 10 kilogrammes up till 50 kilogrammes for special celebrations, temples and associations.
“Yesterday we had a customer who enquired about a 50 kilogrammes mooncake,” Foo said in an interview yesterday, adding that the bakery was the only one who baked big mooncakes here.
“It is not easy to make big mooncakes because it requires skills, but big mooncakes certainly exude the Mid-Autumn Fetival atmosphere.”
Meanwhile, normal size mooncakes come in three different gift packages – individual pack, box of two and box of four and box of six.
A gift pack of four mooncakes are priced between RM36 to RM72, while individual mooncakes are priced between RM11 and RM20 each.
This year, Port View Euro Bakery introduces four new flavours, namely baked crystal white lotus, baked crystal white lotus with one yolk, crispy lotus paste and crispy lotus paste with one yolk.
Foo also recommended Abalone Mix Nuts mooncake which contains the main ingredients such as abalone shreds and small abalone from Australia, as well as dried scallop shreds and dried chicken jerky.
He added that there was a slight price increase in the bakery’s mooncakes this year due to the increasing price of raw materials.
However, Foo assured that his mooncakes were RM8 to RM12 cheaper than those sold in Peninsular Malaysia.
Port View Euro Bakery will be giving a 20 per cent discount on its mooncakes till September 12, the Mid-Autumn Day.
The mooncakes will be available at Port View Euro Bakery outlets in Inanam, Gaya Street, as well as Portview Seafood Village and Grand Portview Seafood Restaurant.
The bakery obtained its Halal certification recently.
