KOTA KINABALU: The government is doing its level best to ensure the people’s demands are met, including implementing development projects to further improve the nation’s economy, said Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
“Of course, the government has its weaknesses; there is no nation in the world that is 100 per cent perfect. Even developed countries like the United State of America are still struggling to perfection until today, what more Malaysia.
“But we are doing our best, to improve and upgrade the existing development, bringing transformation to ensure the people live happily and a better life. And along the way, we also welcome critiques, ideas and views from the people so that we are able to rectify our wrongs for the good of all,” he said when met at Indonesian consul general Soepeno Sahid’s Hari Raya open house at the latter’s residence in Tanjung Aru here yesterday.
Pairin, who is the Parti Bersatu Sabah president, also said that it was the former leaders’ struggle that Sabah and Sarawak are celebrating its 48th independence this year.
He said the younger generation should cherish and be thankful with the past sacrifices as today they are enjoying vast development.
“We have so many to be thankful for. Therefore, it is important that we reflect the struggle of the real heroes. It was not an easy task to free the nation from the clutches of our enemies,” he said.
