KLANG: Four men armed with axe, parang and hammers took just three minutes to escape with jewellery worth RM200,000 from a goldsmith shop in Jalan Stesen here yesterday.

South Klang police chief ACP Mohamad Mat Yusop said during the 2.20pm robbery, four men, wearing helmets rushed into the shop while another four accomplices waited on four motorcycles outside the premises.

The men smashed the glass showcase, scooped up the jewellery and took off on their bikes, he told reporters here yesterday.

“There were seven staff and no customers in the shop at the time but no one was hurt during the robbery,” he said.

He said the shop was fitted with close circuit TV (CCTV) and that police would view the recordings to identify the suspects.

A businessman who witnessed the incident from his shop situated close by, said his attention was drawn to the goldsmith shop when he heard the sound of alarm triggered.

“I saw men running out of the shop wearing helmets and jewellery in hand. They jumped onto motorcycles and headed towards Kampung Jawa,” said the witness who also found three gold items, believed to have been dropped by the robbers when escaping the scene. — Bernama
