KUCHING: Since appointed by the Prime Minister to uplift both the quantity and quality of manpower in the tourism and hospitality industry, UCSI University has actively engaged its key partners to achieve significant milestones for its EPP 10 project.

“UCSI University has developed a curriculum that aims at bridging the gaps between industry expectations and academic excellence,” said EPP 10 IMT (Independent Management Team) chairman, Assoc Prof Dr Wong Kong Yew who is also the vice-president of Industry and Strategic Projects of UCSI University.

“Students will now find that they can earn and work while studying and they no longer feel intimidated by the real working world when they graduate from their course of studies,” added Wong.

Through the EPP 10 initiative, UCSI University, together with many reputable industry partners and IMT policy makers, a unique, non-traditional academic plus industry experience delivery method called work-based learning (WBL) was introduced to its hotel management programme in May.

Those wishing to find out more about the WBL programme are invited to visit the university’s Open Day today and tomorrow at UCSI Sarawak Campus located at Jalan Tun Jugah in Kuching.

Open from 10am to 5pm to the public, activities offered include a pasta-making demonstration, fruit carving and mocktail demonstration. There will also be free career counseling, campus tours as well as free refreshment.
