MIRI: The bilingual Dayak and Malay version of the Ubah pictorial book is now on sale.

Ubah, the hornbill, was introduced by the state DAP during the recent 10th state election as its mascot to champion ‘electoral change’.

“We (DAP) are selling the Dayak edition at a nominal RM2, compared to RM25 for the Malay-English edition. The Dayak edition is heavily subsidised to keep the
Dayak community well informed,” said Piasau assemblyman Alan Ling Sie Kiong during a press conference here on Friday.

He added that the Dayak version did not include a DVD as the party realised that many in the rural and
interior regions of the state did not have DVD players because electricity was scarce.

“It’s our hope that this version of the book will inspire the Dayak community to stand up for their rights, just like what the Chinese community did,” he said.

The book depicts the 10-day pictorial journey of Ubah in the run-up to the April 16 polls, which saw the DAP increasing its number of elected representatives from six to a record 12.
