TAIPING: The father of chronic bone cancer patient  Nurul Atikah Bazilah, who died Friday night, thanked Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for making her dream come true.

Samsudin Hasbullah, 53, was grateful that the Prime Minister had talked to her on a cell phone on Aug 19.
“Although she could not meet him, talking to the prime Minister on the phone was enough,” he told reporters after her funeral at the Kampung Pinang Seberang Muslim Cemetery here.

Nurul Atikah, 14, the youngest of three siblings, died at 11.05pm with her father at her bedside.
Her mother, Che Tom Osman, 45, was on her way home after buying food supplements for her.
Samsudin, a policeman attached to the Batu Kurau station, said that Nurul Atikah greatly admired Najib and the chance to wish him Selamat Hari Raya really cheered her up.

Recounting her final moments,  Samsudin said that Nurul Atikah, whose pet name was Adik, was watching television with him when she complained of fatigue.

“Then my daughter said:  ‘Help ayah, help Adik’. Then she was quiet,” he recalled.
Che Tom said that she had gone to Taiping to buy food supplements and was on her    way home when her husband called to say that their daughter was tired.

“He called me again shortly after that to say that my daughter was no more,” she said. — Bernama

Che Tom lost her job as an assistant supervisor at a factory because her employer said that she had taken too many days unpaid leave to take care of her daughter since 2009, when Nurul Atikah was found to have bone cancer. — Bernama
