NILAI: A total of 147 cancer patients and survivors have gathered at Cempaka International Ladies College in Bandar Enstek near here for the three-day Makna Celebrates Cancer Heroes event which started yesterday.
The event, organised by Makna, the National Cancer Council, is aimed at strengthening the relations between Makna and the patients and survivors.
Makna general manager Farahida Mohd Farid said it also allowed them to share experiences and provide moral support to one another.
“Apart from celebrating those who have overcome their ailment, it is also to nurture the caring attitude among the society as well as Makna volunteers and staff towards the less fortunate,” she said when met here.
Programmes include a visit to the KLCC Aquaria in Kuala Lumpur.
“The day began with a lively telematch and a periwinkle pot decoration competition involving
all the cancer patients.
More than 700 pots were beautifully decorated and filled with the glorious periwinkle plant, Makna’s symbolic logo,” she said. — Bernama
