Four divers receive incentives

PUTRAJAYA: Four divers who won medals at the recently concluded World University Games (Universiade 2011) in Shenzhen, China received incentives from the Higher Education Ministry.

Pandelela Rinong, was the highest recipient with RM17,500 for winning a silver and two bronze medals from the women’s 10m platform individual,synchronised and team events respectively.

Leong Mun Yee, winner of two bronze medals from the women’s 10m platform synchronised diving and the team events received RM10,000.

Ng Yan Yee and Cheong Jun Hong who won a bronze medal each through the women’s team event received RM2,500 each.

“I will save the money for a good cause and for my future,” said Pandelela after receiving the incentive from Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin here on Monday.

Diving was the only sport that contributed medals in the Universiade. — Bernamaax
