KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Assembly of Mosque Youths  and Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur invites Muslims to perform ‘solat hajat’ (prayer of need) for the people of Somalia after Friday prayers.

Executive director Mohd Taqiuddin Abdullah said the prayer to be held at the mosque this Friday is to pray for rain in Somalia, a country hit with drought since three years ago.

In addition, Muslims will also pray for an end to the armed conflict in Somalia as the people are facing acute starvation.

“According to United Nations (UN), two million Somalis risk death from starvation if rain does not fall in two to three months,” he said in a statement  here yesterday.

UN estimates 3.2million people in Somalia require immediate humanitarian aid. — Bernama
