KUCHING: UCSI University Sarawak Campus’ ‘Speak Good English’ programme has received an overwhelming response, with almost all places taken since it was put on offer.

Only a few seats are available and UCSI Extension, which will conduct the programme, is confident of filling them when the programme starts on Sept 20.

For better interaction between students and teacher, the class size is limited to 20 per programme.

Classes will be held twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evening at UCSI University, Sarawak Campus, Jalan Tun Jugah from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The three-month programme will be taught by a qualified lecturer.

Learning modules are specially designed to allow active communication and interaction between the lecturer and participants as well as among participants.

This creates an interesting and conducive learning experience.

Suitable for both students and working adults, emphasis is given to communicating effectively and competently in English.

Students are taught proper pronunciation, formal and informal English, and the right use of tenses and grammar.

They will also be taught basic presentation skills to boost confidence in public speaking.

At the end of the programme, students should be able to converse and communicate fluently in English and will be awarded a certificate issued by the university.

UCSI also offers a preparatory class for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), targeted at
those planning to further their studies or work overseas.

UCSI Extension is a British Council associate and can conduct IELTS tests at its Kuching campus.
