Three Sandakan robbery suspects detained


SANDAKAN: The police here on Monday arrested three suspects for investigation into the robbery cases involving three women here on September 9-11.

District police chief ACP Rowell Marong yesterday said the police also recovered two cars which they believed were used in the robberies. One of the cars is believed to belong to a robbery victim.

On September 9, a woman reported the loss of her car while waiting outside a bank at Prima Square, Mile 4 here. The robbers forced her out of the car before driving it away.

She escaped unhurt and also reported the loss of her computer that was kept in the car.

The following day, a teacher was having dinner at a restaurant around 6pm at Bandar Indah when a man snatched her handbag from a chair. She lost RM1,800 cash and a mobile phone.

And on September 11, a robber forced a beautician in her 30s to enter her house at Taman Rimba, Mile 7 here at knife point at 9.30pm before relieving her of RM1,500 cash and a mobile phone.

The robber pulled the victim’s hair and threatened her with the knife while she was opening her gate after returning from work.

Her husband was away at that time and she was staying alone.

Marong said the three suspects were remanded by the police for further investigation.
