6.2-magnitude quake shakes E. Japan

TOKYO: An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hits Japan’s Ibaraki-ken Oki at 5pm local time on Thursday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a Xinhua News report said.

The epicentre, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 36.3 degrees north latitude and 141.6 degrees east longitude.

Tremor was felt in Tokyo. But no damage so far has been reported.
