Quake hits Sikkim, India

KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 on the Richter scale hit Sikkim, India, at 8.40pm last night.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement, the epicentre of the quake was 506km northwest of Dhaka, Bangladesh and 2,690km northwest of Langkawi, Kedah.

The quake did not pose any tsunami threat. – Bernama
