UMS music student to audition in Korea

KOTA KINABALU: It is almost unbelievable for Didi Gloria Moo Rejoss, 20, to get an all-expenses paid trip to Korea to attend the second MBC star audition after being chosen from a worldwide Youtube audition through the Internet.

Didi, who is currently a music student at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), did not expect to be among the top five foreign contestants for the second audition in Seoul.

“Everything started when I was searching for Korean K-Pop songs on the Internet and I saw the MBC Star Audition Season 2. I do not understand Korean but I read from the description.

“Since the talent search was a worldwide audition, I took a video of me singing a Korean song and submitted it just for fun,” she said.

Didi Moo who is also a singer, songwriter and one of the four Jade Sisters who performs at various private and public functions in the state, actually never performed alone.

She said the first audition in front of three Korean judges was her first time singing alone in front of the public.

It was a double happiness for the Tamparuli girl when she was chosen as the top contestant in the foreigners category.

“Only five of us got through in the foreigners group. Three females and two males. The males were Korean-American while the girls were also Koreans who live abroad.

“I am the only non-Korean foreigner who will be in the next round. I will be flying off to Korea on September 24 as the audition will be on the 25th,” she said.

Didi Moo said she is the only Malaysian who would be competing with the other contestants at the talent show organized by the Korean national broadcasting network.

Yesterday, Didi Moo received a token of appreciation from the Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry.

She was accompanied by her father Rojess Moo, 51, and mother Joana Sinteh, 48, who were always  supportive of her career as a musician together with the other sisters.

Didi Moo is the third child of four siblings, and always sang with her other sisters Joan, Amy and Erika, as the Jade Sisters. The group’s single, ‘Janji’, was ranked first on Carta Borneo Era Kota Kinabalu recently.
