SUPP Youth chief ready for Stampin, if picked

KUCHING: SUPP Youth chief Sih Hua Tong will leave it to the party and BN leadership to decide who should be picked to contest in Stampin in the next general election.

Sih added that he was unaware of talks that he is one of the potential andidates for the constituency whose MP Datuk Yong Khoon Seng had, on numerous occasions, made it clear that he would be calling it a day.

“Not that I know anything (about the rumours) but if it is the will of the party, then I will respect,” he said when met by reporters here yesterday.

Sih was at SK RPR Batu Kawa to witness the launching of Sekolah Lestari and Rakan Alam Sekitar (RAS) programmes by Yong, who is also Deputy Minister of Works.

In the April 16 state polls this year, Sih was fielded by the BN in Batu Lintang but See Chee How of PKR triumphed.

“We have a lot of young leaders who need to be groomed. I strongly believe we need to groom more young blood,” Sih said.

When asked by reporters about his frequent public appearances of late, he replied: “I am always on the ground because I want to do my best to serve the people. It is also part of the party’s philosophy to serve the community well.”

Another party member who is strongly tipped to stand in Stampin is Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Lo Khere Chiang.
