SIBU: Some 1,600 Boys’ Brigade members from the central region and their families converged on SMK Sacred Heart for the inaugural Malaysia Boys’ Brigade (BB) Sarawak Central Region’s Family Day.

Its council chairman Captain Colin Wong, who officiated at the event, said the get-together event was to foster closer relationship among all those present.

“In the past, we only stick with holding telematches,” he said.

Organising chairman Lt James Kong said such an event was needed as comrades from different companies hardly had a chance to mingle.  He said there were 14 BB companies in the central region, but one could not make it for the big day.

The participants were primary school pupils, secondary school students and their parents from Sibu, Sarikei, Bintangor and Durin.

Besides enjoying free breakfast, everyone present had a whale of a time as there were 20 game booths.
