SIBU: Bawang Assan assemblyman Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh now has the moral support of Sibu Taxi Drivers Association (STDA) in his quest to be SUPP president.

STDA chairman Yew Ching Liing told a press conference yesterday that Wong had the support of the Sibu people as their leader as evidenced by his victory in the last state election.

“Indeed, Dato Sri Wong has done much for Sibu.  Although SUPP fared badly at the last state election, Sibu people still support him,” Yew figured.

He said Wong’s contributions and service to the people were well accepted by the people.

He attributed the implementation of projects like the Lanang bridge, Igan bridge, airport extension, river dredging, road upgrading and so on to Wong.

Yew believed that Wong, who is presently SUPP Sibu chairman and Second Minister of Finance and Minister of Environment
and Public Health, would be made a deputy chief minister if he were the president of SUPP.

“STDA may be insignificant in size but we know how to be grateful to SUPP for all the help the party had rendered us,” he said.

Also present at the press conference was STDA vice chairman Lu Kai Lik.
