PRS all for second DPM

KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) supports the idea of creating a second deputy prime minister post to be filled by an MP from either Sarawak or Sabah.

Party president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said the suggestion for a second DPM by Upko president Tan Sri Bernard Dompok was “very good” and that it should be considered seriously by the top BN leadership.

“PRS supports that suggestion as this would enhance the importance of Sabah and Sarawak,” he said yesterday.

Dompok made the suggestion at Upko’s triennial delegates’ conference in Kota Kinabalu recently.

Upko, a Sabah-based party, and PRS are both BN component parties.

Among others, Dompok called for a second deputy chairman of BN, who would be the second DPM, to be appointed to represent East Malaysia.
