Man found murdered in oil palm plantation


IPOH: The body of a man with slash injuries on his neck was found in an oil palm plantation near Bidor, about 85 km from here yesterday.

Perak police chief Datuk Shukri Dahalan said the man identified as Choo Mun Hoo, 30, from Kampung Batu 12, Jalan Bidor, Teluk Intan was found by passers-by at 11.15 am.

The man’s family had lodged a missing persons report last Friday when he did not return home, said Shukri when met at Ipoh police’s Aidilfitri open house here, yesterday.

He said police believe the motive may be related to debts or money lending and had classified the case as murder.

Meanwhile, police are still investigating the murder of an 11-year-old girl found with strangulation marks on her neck at an oil palm plantation in Kati, Kuala Kangsar, he added.

He said they believe the case would be solved soon following important information gained from the victim’s family.

The highly decomposed body of Nur Shafiqa Ismail from Talang Masjid, Kuala Kangsar was found by the owner of the
plantation at 10.30 am yesterday.

The victim had been reported missing on Sept 16, four days after she had left her aunty’s house on Sept 12. — Bernama
