Wife of former Sarawak Commissioner of Police laid to rest

KUCHING: The late Puan Sri Datin Amar Halimah Abdullah, wife of former Sarawak Commissioner of Police Tan Sri Datuk Amar Hamdan Sirat, was laid to rest at Tanah Perkuburan Islam, Samariang yesterday.

She passed away from a lung infection at 10.25am on Monday at the age of 82.

Among those who paid their last respects at Hamdan’s home yesterday prior to the burial were Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah.

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib also visited the family and joined in the prayers.

Others paying their last respects included Assistant Tourism Minister Datuk Talib Zulpilip, Asajaya assemblyman Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Samariang assemblywoman Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and her mother former Samariang assemblywoman Datuk Paduka Sharifah Mordiah Tuanku Fauzi, State Police Commissioner DCP Datuk Mortadza Nazarene, former Dewan Negara Speaker Tan Sri Abang Hamad Urai, former State Secretary Datuk Safri Awang Zaidil and Kuching City South Council (MBKS) councillor Barbara Mawan.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang sent a representative.
