KOTA BAHARU: A sawmill worker was shot in the thigh in Kampung Telekong, Kuala Krai, yesterday evening after he is believed to have failed to settle a drug debt.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said the 35-year-old man from Dabong was in stable condition at the Kuala Krai Hospital.

He said the shooting took place at 6.30 pm after both parties could not apparently settle a debt over
the purchase of methamphetamines.

“The police have yet to make any arrest although we have identified the suspect,” he told reporters after the launch of the Crime Prevention Month at the Kelantan police headquarters here yesterday.

At the event, he flagged off a convoy of 150 motorcyclists to Pasir Puteh. — Bernama
