KUCHING: Kolej Sidma Sarawak is hosting the UniRazak Aksara Budaya Carnival for the first time.

Involving over 300 students from seven UniRazak branches across Malaysia, the carnival, which will end tomorrow (Sunday), is being held at the Malaysian Tax Academy.

Assistant Tourism Minister Datuk Talib Zulpilip called on students to understand the importance of art and culture and the significance of the carnival’s objectives.

“Such initiatives should be understood as our country is blessed with diverse culture.

“Therefore, this carnival is a great stepping stone to unite every culture while at the same time paving the way for mutual understanding,” he said during the official opening on Thursday night.

Those performing during opening night included Kestari of Sidma Sarawak, Sri Raktamrittika (UniRazak Kota Bharu), Dansawara (Sentral Technology College Penang), Duta Budaya (Umtech Kampus, Selangor), Prima Dansa (Sidma Sabah), and Warisan Melayu (Kolej Yayasan Melaka).

Among the highlights of the carnival are the Malaysian dance seminar, UniRazak idol, and dance competition.
