US Embassy opens 2013 Diversity Visa Programme Oct 4-Nov 5

KUALA LUMPUR: The 2013 Diversity Visa Programme (DV-2013) will be open to the public on Oct 4 until noon on Nov 5, the United States Embassy here said yesterday.

The embassy in a statement said that applicants must submit entries electronically using electronic DV entry from www.dvlottery.states.gov.

The embassy encourage applicants not to submit the form until the last week of registration, and paper entries will not be accepted.

The statement said that several countries are not eligible to apply because the countries sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States in the previous five years.

The countries are Bangladesh,Brazil,Canada,China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexcio, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories and Vietnam.

“People born in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are eligible to apply,” it said.

The annual programme makes visas available to persons meeting the simple, but strict, eligibility requirements. — Bernama
