KUALA LUMPUR: The government yesterday announced an allocation of RM320 million to equip the young generation with training and skills.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said various activities, comprising skills training, leadership, resilience and entrepreneurship programmes at the district and state levels, including contributions to the Malaysian Youth Council, the state youth councils and the district youth councils, would be carried out.

“As a generation that contributes to the realisation of the nation’s aspirations, they have to be equipped with training and skills to ensure they play an important role in the country’s development,” he said when tabling the Budget 2012 at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Najib said the government also agreed to establish MyCreative Venture Capital as a pioneer project with an initial fund of RM200 million.

“Our efforts today are not only for us, but for the future of our children. The potential of the young generation must be recognised. The idealism must be polished, creativity must be inculcated and talent must be nurtured.

“We need to ask, with the stringent financial structure, will the ideas of people like Bill Gates, the late Steve Jobs, Michael Dell, the Wright brothers. Thomas Edison, be successful?” he added. — Bernama
