KUCHING: Thieves broke into a travel agency office in the dead of the night and carted away computers worth several thousand ringgit yesterday.

The burglary was discovered when employees arrived at the Jalan Tabuan premises and saw their office had been ransacked with drawers and other items strewn across the floor.

Checks showed the thieves had made off with four desktop computers along with the monitors.

Initial investigation by police revealed the thieves gained entry by climbing through a small window at the rear of the first-floor office.

Police also found two meat cleavers and a hammer along the stairwell, which were believed to have been left behind by the thieves.

In a separate case, a housewife from Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce reported the loss of her handbag that she believed was stolen while she was shopping at a supermarket.

The 34-year-old victim was at the Jalan Datuk Tawi Sli supermarket around 5.30pm on Friday when she noticed her handbag was no longer inside her trolley.

Among the items inside her bag included RM2,500 cash, a mobile phone, her car keys and personal documents.

Police are investigating.
