JOHOR BAHARU: Three friends were killed when the Proton Wira they were travelling in was involved in a crash with a lorry at Jalan Batu 16 1/2, Sungai Tiram, here yesterday.
Seri Alam district police chief Supt Roslan Zainuddin said the crash killed Mohamad Faiz Ahmad Tahir, 18, Mohamad Khairuddun Karimi, 21, and Mohamad Nazri Zulkifly,20.
The three friends died at about 9.20am at the scene of the road accident.
“Proton Wira driver Mohamad Faiz was trying to overtake a vehicle when it collided with the lorry laden with sand coming from the opposite direction.”
The victims were returning to their homes in Kampung Sungai Tiram after completing work in a factory at Taman Desa Cemerlang industrial area here.
Roslan said the three bodies were later sent to Sultan Ismail Hospital for a post-mortem.
The lorry driver suffered only minor injuries and the case is investigated under Section 41 (1) of Road Transport Act 1987.
Mohamad Nazri’s brother, Mohamad Faiz, 17, said her brother and his two new friends only started work at the factory yesterday. – Bernama
