TAWAU: The parents of 12 children have expressed dissatisfaction over the rejection of their applications to enroll in a primary school here for its 2012 Primary One intake.

According to the parents’ spokesperson, Nuraini Sahibil, 30, their children are attending the kindergarten run by the school.

“We have filled in the Primary One enrolment form since 2010 for 2012 intake and were informed out applications have been rejected in January 2011.

“In the last few months, we have yet to receive any confirmation of the rejection even though we have held discussion with the Tawau Education Department,” she said.

According to Nuraini, they are really disappointed as their children want to study in the primary school.

She said they have raised the matter with the management of the kindergarten and  Education Department many times but have yet to receive any response from them.

Nuraini said she has been told by the management of the kindergarten that their applications were rejected because their children have failed the qualifying test for entry to the primary school.

However, the children have never taken any qualifying test, she said.

She said they hope the problem could be resolved immediately so that their children would not be left out next year.

Meanwhile, the headmistress of the school declined to comment on the matter, saying that it has been referred to the Tawau Education Department for further action.
