New-born baby found in toilet pump

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 23-year old woman hid a new-born baby boy in a toilet pump housing at a hostel in Bandar Chukai, Kemaman here on Friday.

Kemaman district police chief Supt Abdullah Sani Salat said the woman, who worked at a bookstore, was also reported to have thrown the placenta and umbilical cord into the toilet bowl in the 2am incident.

He said the baby was found by her friends around 3.30am with injuries on his face and body with blue marks believed due to cold condition.

“Her friends was suspicious over the sound of a baby crying and then found blood stains leading towards a room where the girl was found in a weak state,” he said when contacted here today.

However, Abdullah said the mother and baby were in stable condition and investigations were ongoing. — Bernama
