6.3M quake jolts New Britain region

SYDNEY: An earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale jolted New Britain region, Papua New Guinea at 03.05pm on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said in a Xinhua News report.

The epicentre, with a depth of 9.90 km, was initially determined to be at 5.8860 degrees south latitude and 150.9936 degrees east longitude.

There have been no reports of damage or casualties so far.
