SIBU: Three members of a family killed in Sungei Empawah last Thursday died from slash wounds on their heads and chest, according to postmortems conducted at Sibu Hospital yesterday morning.

A police source said family members were not present when the pathologist conducted the postmortems.

The bodies of farmer Tiong Tang Ming, his son Tiong King and Tiong King’s wife Teu Lee Mee all sustained multiple slashes on their heads, shoulders, chests, backs and faces. They will be taken to Miri this morning after the encoffin service in the hospital, and buried tomorrow.

Sibu police chief ACP Shafie Ismail confirmed yesterday the three were killed during a scuffle between Tang Ming and three workers from his rubber plantation. He said there was an allegation the three workers, who were illegal immigrants, had wanted to return home and asked Tang Ming for their wages.

“Tang Ming allegedly did not pay; this led to a quarrel, a struggle and the murder.”
