Sick attack on Gaddafi casts shadow over Libya’s rebirth

SICKENING new footage of Muammar Gaddafi’s last moments show he was almost certainly executed by his rebel captors, one of whom appears to have humiliated him by sodomising him with a knife or stick, said PerthNow News.

The horrific images of mob cruelty, shot in the minutes leading up to Gaddafi’s death, have been posted on the news site Global Post.

The shaky footage, shot on a rebel’s handheld mobile phone after Gaddafi was seized late last week hiding in a drainpipe outside of Sirte, has been broken down to a series of stills, which show Gaddafi in agony after a man stabs him in the rear.

The full video of Gaddafi’s capture makes for shocking viewing as seemingly hysterical fighters chant “Allah Akbar!” (God is Great) and drag the former Libyan leader towards a vehicle.

At the start of the three minute and 55 second clip, Gaddafi is already bleeding from his head as his captors lead him away. A man then approaches Gaddafi from behind and stabs him.

There is what seems to be a series of heavy blows and Gaddafi falls to the ground. A man then dangles an automatic weapon over Gaddafi’s head and appears to fires several rounds.

But Gaddafi is still alive and in deep distress as the mob drags him again, in what may become a damaging PR moment for the otherwise celebrated rebel forces.

Gadaffi, now a confused and pitiful figure, bleeds more freely from his head wound and becomes increasingly limp. But another clip shows he is clearly still alive as he is thrown in the back of a truck.

GlobalPost said the footage was provided to them by revolutionaries from the coastal city of Misrata, who found Gaddafi an hour or so after the airstrike.

Sometime after that, Gadaffi’s degradation is complete. He is lifeless and stripped of his clothes. It appears he has wounds to both his head and chest.

Interim Libyan leader, Mustafa Jalil, said Gaddafi’s death would be investigated.

“In response to international calls, we have started to put in place a commission tasked with investigating the circumstances of Moammar Gaddafi’s death in the clash with his circle as he was being captured,” Jalil said.

Some NTC leaders maintain that Gaddafi was already wounded by a NATO air raid when revolutionary fighters found him hiding in a highway drain.
