Quakes shake eastern Honshu, Izu Islands, Vanuatu: USGS

AN earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted eastern Honshu, Japan at 17:08:52 GMT on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicentre, with a depth of 16.00 km, was initially determined to be at 37.0361 degrees north latitude and 140.9804 degrees east longitude.

Another moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook the Izu Islands, Japan region at 19:34:12 GMT on Tuesday.

The epicentre, with a depth of 10.20 km, was initially determined to be at 32.0549 degrees north latitude and 138.3387 degrees east longitude.

Meanwhile the US Geological Survey also said an earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Vanuatu at 19:34:20 GMT on Tuesday.

The epicentre, with a depth of 150.60 km, was initially determined to be at 15.0351 degrees south latitude and 167.3081 degrees east longitude.
