SEREMBAN: A couple met a fiery end, while their two children sustained severe burns, when their car caught fire following a three-vehicle accident in Batu 10, Jalan Seremban-Tampin here yesterday.

The family was heading to Alor Gajah, Melaka to celebrate Deepavali at a relative’s home when the mishap occurred at 8.56am.

Officer-in-charge of Rembau fire and rescue station Zamrus Zainal said P Mugunthan, 42, and his wife, K Sothi, 36, were burnt to death in their Honda Civic car during the incident.

“Passers-by only managed to rescue the couple’s sons, aged 10 and 13. The drivers of the other two cars also escaped unhurt,” he told reporters at the scene.

The bodies were taken to Seremban Hospital for post-mortem. — Bernama
