Crime situation improves – Miri police chief

MIRI: Miri police chief ACP Jamaluddin Ibrahim on Friday said the crime index here had gone down by 12 per cent while the solving rate improved by 50 per cent.

“The statistics are for the period January 1 to October 27 this year,” he said.

With the recent success made by Miri CID in arresting suspects for alleged possession of a homemade shotgun and house breaking activities, Jamaluddin was confident that they would be able to bring the crime index down before the year-end, especially with the on-going regular patrols by his men in the city and residential areas through Ops Utama Perdana.

Jamaluddin also urged members of the public to cooperate with the police in combating crime.
