GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been urged to clarify his stand on whether the opposition-led Penang government would implement hudud (Islamic law) advocated by PAS.
Shabudin Yahya (BN-Permatang Berangan) said as PAS was championing hudud, the Penang government should attest whether it supported hudud or whether it had other solutions in mind.
“I had submitted a written question on hudud, seeking the state government to clear the air on the matter but it was rejected on the ground that it is associated with the chief minister,” he said when debating the Supply Bill and the Development Estimates 2012 at the State Assembly here yesterday.
Shabudin claimed that Lim avoided answering the question.
Shabudin also wanted to know whether Penang state executive councillors had declared their assets as promised by the chief minister when the opposition took over the reins of government.
He said Penang state executive councillors should declare their assets in line with the Competency, Accountability and Transparency (CAT) concept advocated by Lim.
Meanwhile, Shabudin asked Lim, who is also the Penang Water Supply Corporation chairman, to make a public apology for disclosing his (Shabudin’s) electricity bill on YouTube as it was unethical and wrong to victimise a consumer. — Bernama
